Thoughts About Life

Why this cover image?
As a developer, sometimes I see life as a binary tree (yes I know that is too geek). Is not a surprise that what we are today is the result of the decisions we made yesterday. Each decision you make takes you to a different path in your life. There are critical ones like the career you want to study and other ones not so important like what type of pizza to order. Nevertheless, some decisions you make every day can produce huge results in the long term (deciding to go or not to the gym for example).
The point is that even if the decision is difficult you got the chance to choose. This post's cover image shows a beautiful path in the woods, but with a few trees serving as obstacles, and isn't that the reason of its beauty? Otherwise it would be a monotonous path with nothing of interest. In my perspective life is just like it, we want to reach goals, there will be obstacles and failures for sure, but you know? That is what makes us grow.
Life is as long and short as you see it
It is curios how as a child it took forever to complete a whole year, now that I'm in my 20s not so much. If you are really busy you feel like time passes really fast, but if you are waiting for your amazon package to finally arrive it's the oposite.
In the perspective that I want to do something meaningful with my life, it seems short. I see in history scientists that dedicated their whole life to their research and now we have a better quality of life because of them. There are other not so happy endings of people dying at young age. We never know when our time to part will come, but until that day I want to enjoy the time I have, help others if I can and create things (that's why I'm a software developer, it is awesome to create things with code).
A good thing is that for learning life is pretty long (in fact you should never stop learning). In a both personal and professional point of views, life is the best teacher. For sure I regret my mistakes, but thank time I had the chance to learn from them. Now I understand the person I was is not that important as the person I will become.
The developer
You are not a machine, it's ok to not be productive 24 hours 7 days a week. You need to rest, recover energies and have fun. What is the point of having a good income if you can't enjoy it? Your health and peace of mind is more important than any job. If you are in a toxic environment go away as fast as you can, we have the privilege to be in an industry with a huge demand a low supply, if you are talented you can find something better. On the other hand if you are in a good place, appreciate it and contribute to make it even better.
I found that working with a company that has a clear vision and is solving stimulating problems is the kind of place I like to be. I wouldn't like to spend my life short time in something that does not produce interest or enthusiasm in me. I like when a business awakens intellectual curiosity.
Family and friends
Is there other thing more important than this? Other thing that can produce more happiness? I don't think so. In terms of quality of life, relationships take a big part of the cake. To laugh, cry and even get angry with others is what gives life taste, we humans are a social specie.
Conclusion
There is nothing false in this sentence: "Time is the most precious asset."
